Headings help to organize your documents both visually and structurally. This enables people who use a screen reader to navigate your document. It also creates an outline, that anyone navigating your document can benefit from. A few simple guidelines will help ensure your document headings are accessible:
First, use the built-in Formatting and Style options to create headings.
Second, start with Heading 1, and use no more than one Heading 1 in a document.
Third, keep a logical structure as you add headings. Be sure that Heading 1 is followed by Heading 2, then Heading 3, etc. Don't skip from Heading 1 to Heading 4.
